The empty lot next door will soon be replaced with a passive house – a concept build that is meant to produce and retain its own energy through solar panels. I’ve met our new neighbor a few times – usually during my garden rounds. While their builders haven’t broken ground yet, our new neighbor is over often, trying to clear years worth of foliage from the lot. Scott and his wife are very nice, although their German Shepherd scares Pasha (probably not all the Shepherd’s fault).
This evening John was engrossed in baseball, so I took to Google. Turns out – our new neighbors are kind of famous. They’ve been profiled on a number of news outlets because of their dedication to charitable giving and frugal living. This year, they’ve pledged to give away $50,000 of their own money. How neat is that? You can follow their journey on their blog.
