Our neighbor held a garage sale, and chose to advertise it by placing a wooden coffin in the front yard with a small sign on it that said “Garage Sale.” Not sure why he thought that would be an inviting marketing strategy. He didn’t get a lot of interest, probably because people don’t like to enter dark garages of strangers who have spare coffins lying about.
Once he decided to give up, he knocked on our door to introduce himself and ask if John would help him move his coffin back into the garage. John agreed, and then asked (whilst playing pallbearer) if it was a Halloween decoration.
Neighbor: “Oh no. I made it for a friend, but he didn’t fit into it. I guess we could use it for Halloween.”
